Apple has introduced its most awaited handsets, the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, its long-rumored Apple Watch, the first new device since the death of Apple co-founder, and a new mobile payment system – the Apple Pay during an official event at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California. The Apple Watch will be customizable and come in multiple styles. The Apple Pay, a new payment solution will work at more than 220,000 retailers nationwide. It will support American Express, MasterCard and Visa. The tech giant has been working with the companies to integrate Apple Pay.
Apple iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1134 x 750p and has over 1 million pixels and “Retina HD” display similar to the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. It comes with an aluminium unibody design on the back, curved edges and metal strips on the sides for the antennas. The right side of the handset has the Power button, while the left side has the volume rockers and the ringtone switch key. The handset measures 138.1 x 67 x 6.9mm in thickness and weighs in at just 129-grams. It will be available in Gold, Silver and Space Gray.
The iPhone 6 is powered by a new Apple A8 chip based on 64-bit architecture with the 20nm manufacturing process. It packs a 1.2GHz dual core CPU. It has a new feature, the landscape mode to improve graphics speeds by a factor of 84. Out of the box, the iPhone 6 runs on the iOS 8 operating system and fueled by a 1,810mAh battery, the battery is claimed to provide up-to 14 hours of 3G talk time, up-to 50 hours of music playback and up-to 250 hours of standby time.
It houses an 8-megapixel iSight camera sensor with a wider f/2.2 aperture, a larger 1.5 micron pixel sensor, “focus pixels”, all new sensors, True Tone flash (Two LEDs with different color temperature) and panoramas. It has autofocus and face detection, but there’s no OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).
You can capture panoramas up-to 43-megapixel and the camera is capable of recording video in full HD 1080p and Slo-Mo videos @ 120fps or 240fps. The front has a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with an aperture of f/2.2, a new BSI sensor, 720p video recording and comes with improved HDR (High Dynamic Rang) features.
In terms of connectivity, the iPhone 6 offers up-to 150Mbps with 20 LTE bands that works with more than 200 4G-LTE carriers worldwide, VoLTE (Voice Over LTE), WiFi calling for T-Mobile and EE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and NFC connectivity. It comes with the TouchID for high security for online purchases.
Apple has announced the availability and pricing for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the new Apple iPhone 6 will cost $199 for the 16GB variant, $299 for the 32GB variant and $399 for the 128GB variant with a two year contract. It will be available in Gold, Space Gray and Silver. The handsets become available for pre-order on 12th September. The iPhones will go sale on September 19th in the US, UK, Australia, France, Japan, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore and Germany. It would be available across 115 countries worldwide by the end of the year.
